Meet Avia's Newest Hires and Their Two Pawsome Cat Tales!

Our latest act of compassion involves rescuing and adopting two incredible shelter cats, Jia Bao and TangTang; our feline friends. Jia Bao, a gentle soul without teeth due to a previous condition, is affectionate and loving. Meanwhile, TangTang, a smart and playful one-eyed cat, brings intelligence and charm to our lives. Their rescue stories reflect Avia’s commitment to making a positive impact, one life at a time. These shelter cats have quickly become integral to our lives, bringing joy, mischief, and endless cuddles.

Tangtang: The One-Eyed Pirate Cat

Avia cat member

Tangtang is a spirited kitty with a heart full of adventure. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that this one-eyed wonder was no ordinary cat. Tangtang sees the world through the eyes of a pirate, always on the lookout for his next great voyage. With nothing but the sea and stars guiding him, Tangtang is ready to embark on a new journey in his forever home, where every day is filled with excitement and new discoveries with the Avia family.

As a British Shorthair cat, Tangtang is very smart, he loves cuddles and affection. He is also chubby, making him very cute and lovely with our team at Avia. It will be easy for him to wear a Halloween costume as a pirate! According to the shelter, when he was rescued, one eye was injured and needed an operation. With fast recovery, Tangtang has proven its amazing temperament and sweetness.

Jia Bao: Gentle and Hopeful Cat

Avia cat member

Jia Bao, on the other hand, is a gentle soul who has been dreaming of a place to call home. After patiently waiting, his time finally came when he won the hearts of Avia's family full of love. Jia Bao’s journey has been one of hope and perseverance, and now that he’s found his forever home, he couldn’t be happier. His story is a reminder that every cat deserves a loving home, and that patience truly pays off.

Jia Bao is extremely clingy and loves getting pets. Even though he is toothless due to oral inflammation, he still loves eating and because of this, he remains strong physically. He is the most affectionate towards people against other cats in the shelter. Very energetic and social cat. He is what the team calls 'the licking cat' and Jia Bao has a strong desire to join the team and have the love he deserves.

Both Jia Bao and Tangtang have a special place in the hearts of every Avia team member. Since we have fallen in love with Jia Bao and Tangtang, let us talk more about cats and learn facts about them!

10 Fun Facts About Cats

Fun Facts About Cats

Cats are full of surprises, with their behavior and physical traits making them endlessly fascinating. These intriguing facts highlight some of the lesser-known but equally remarkable aspects of our feline friends. From their unique anatomy to their surprising habits, each fact offers a glimpse into what makes cats such extraordinary creatures.

  1. What is a cat known for?

Cats are known for their fun and cute personalities and are one of the most beloved pets. Their ability to navigate their environment with grace, combined with their curious nature, makes them fascinating creatures to observe.

Whether it's their soft purring that soothes or their playful leaps that captivate, cats have a unique way of leaving a lasting impression. Their mysterious aura, combined with a touch of mischief, adds to their allure, making them one of the most intriguing pets.

  1. Do you need rabies vaccines for cats?

Rabies is a serious viral disease that can affect cats, making vaccination crucial. While indoor cats or domestic cats have a lower risk of contracting rabies, it’s still essential for them to be vaccinated, especially if they occasionally go outside or if there’s a chance they might come into contact with wild animals.

Rabies vaccines not only protect your cat but also ensure the safety of humans and other animals they may interact with. Regular vaccinations are a key part of responsible pet ownership and keeping your cat healthy.

  1. Cats rotate their ears almost 180 degrees

One of the most remarkable features of cats is their ability to rotate their ears 180 degrees. This impressive skill is thanks to the 32 muscles in each ear, allowing cats to pinpoint the exact location of a sound. Whether it’s the rustle of leaves or the faint squeak of a mouse, a cat’s ears are always on high alert, ensuring they never miss a beat.

  1. Cats have a third eyelid

Cats possess a third eyelid, known as the nictitating membrane, which provides additional protection and moisture to their eyes. This translucent layer moves horizontally across the eye and is usually not visible unless the cat is unwell or stressed. This unique feature is just another example of how cats are perfectly adapted to their environment.

  1. A cat’s purr can help bone injury recovery

Cats have a special healing power—their purr. The vibrations from a cat’s purr are within a frequency range that promotes bone growth and healing. This purring not only soothes the cat but also has a therapeutic effect on humans, reducing stress and fostering a calming environment.

  1. Cats are desert creatures at heart

Fun Facts About Cats

Despite being popular as indoor pets, cats have their origins in desert environments. Their ancestors thrived in arid regions, which explains their ability to conserve water and their preference for warm, cozy spots. This desert heritage is evident in their behavior and physiological traits, making them well-suited to a variety of climates.

  1. Cats have a flexible spine

A cat’s spine is flexible and it allows them to twist and turn with extraordinary agility. This flexibility is key to their hunting prowess and is what enables them to land gracefully on their feet after a fall. The unique structure of their spine, with more vertebrae than humans, is a perfect example of nature’s design for survival and efficiency.

  1. Cats have a great sense of balance

Cats are known for their impeccable balance, a trait that is crucial for their survival. Their long tails act as counterbalances, allowing them to navigate narrow ledges and make sharp turns with ease. This sense of balance is also why cats are such adept climbers and why they can move so gracefully through their environment.

  1. Cats can’t taste sweet things

This evolutionary taste receptors trait is a result of their strict carnivorous diet, which doesn’t require them to seek out sugary foods. So, while your cat may show interest in your food, they’re likely more intrigued by the texture or scent rather than any sweet flavor.

  1. Cats are lactose intolerant

Despite the common stereotype of cats loving milk, most cats are actually lactose intolerant. Feeding them dairy milk or foods can lead to digestive issues, including stomach upset and diarrhea. It’s important to provide them with appropriate nutrition that caters to their dietary needs rather than offering them foods that might harm them.

Summary

Cats are not just pets; they are companions that enrich our lives in countless ways. From their fascinating behaviors to their unique physical traits, cats continue to captivate and charm us. Our journey with Tangtang and Jia Bao, two wonderful shelter cats, is just beginning, and we can’t wait to share more cat tales as we create new memories together. Whether it’s learning more about their intriguing nature or simply enjoying their company, there’s no denying that life is better with cats.
